OBJECTIVES

The aims of each area will be formulated with the wish of increasing the number of hours that our students are exposed to the English language; to favour the acceptance of the use of the English as a vehicular language in the teaching of other curricular subjects; to initiate students to a significant use of English outside the English language class and to consolidate, in the following years, the use of the English as a language of instruction of specific contents, too.
The improvement of the linguistic and communicative competence of our students pretends to be achieved by:
• Conceiving English not only as a specific subject that has not got other uses outside the high school curricula but also as a real language of the current world.
• Learning specific vocabulary from other subjects and using it properly.
• Recognising the role that this foreign language plays in communication and new technologies. Also, being aware of the language usefulness in order to communicate with people from different places.
